Artist Statement
I was a found object. I have no history beyond my own memory. I can claim no family tree, land or traditions as my own. The objects and marks I craft encapsulate this persistent otherness. I am drawn to habitats, used materials and transformative processes - the junctures where culture, nature and experience combine as a means of charging identity and place. My work explores the resilience and residues of things found on the verge, the places in between. I pull apart, edit and reconstruct what I find, collaborating with the materials. In the process I construct my own history.
